At Published By Parables you build your own publishing package. You determine the extent and limits of your financial investment in the publishing and distribution of your book. You determine how and where your dollars are spent.
Some elements are essential as you put together your publishing package – some are not. If your purpose in publication is US/Global distribution and worldwide availability of your book then you will of necessity need an ISBN, a Bar Code, a global distribution platformk, and perhaps a few other features included in your package.
If your book is for use in a congregational setting, or a retreat, or for a Spring or Fall Revival, an ISBN, Bar Code, etc. may not be necessary. 
Remember, some elements are essential as you put together your publishing package – some are not.
In similar manner, if you already have an extra ISBN that can be placed on your book – then by all means use it. Remember, at Published By Parables you build your own publishing package.
Copy Editing
Because your book is your gift to God and the larger Christian community, it would be terrible if it was filled with misspelled words, poor grammar, shoddy interior design, etc).
Though we do not provide editorial services, we suggest you consider utilizing the services of a professional copy editor. Copy editors are the gatekeepers of good grammar. However, you may have a friend, a fellow church member, or a member of your family who is capable of doing this for you. The important thing is for your book to reflect your best effort and devotion to Christ, not just in content but in its visual presentation and in every way possible.
Portable Document Format (PDF)
Published By Parables submission policies, like that of many publishers, require that we receive a print-ready manuscript and/or cover files in a .pdf format. (Covers in the .pdf format must be in one file, front-spine-back. Three separate files of front-spine-back are automatically rejected).
Professional .pdf software (inDesign, Foxit, Nuance, Nitro, etc) have special features that enable a professional book designer to create high-quality, professional files. Some Microsoft processing programs (Word, Word Perfect, Works, etc) can also produce quality .pdf print files.
If you are NOT experienced in creating book layout design or in creating .pdf digital files, fear not, all is not lost, remember, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens. And, if you can’t, well, somebody else can.
Here are several options: (1) You can enlist the help of a professional book designer to do the actual layout of your book – a costly option. (2) You can enlist the help of a church member, a friend or a co-worker to do this for you. Remember, the God who called you to write your book also has key people already in place to help you through the nuances of getting your book published. (3) You, yes, you can design the interior layouts and covers and create the required .pdf files. Remember, this is not brain surgery. If you’re smart enough to write a book you’re smart enough to figure this out! (4) We can (but we’d rather not) design the interior layout and format your text into a .pdf file for you.

Book Seller Return Program
There has been an ongoing debate as to whether authors and publishers should grant booksellers the right to return unwanted or overstocked copies of books.
Published By Parables allows you to opt in or opt out of the Book Seller Return Program. It is, however, expensive to participate in these types of programs.
At Published By Parables you determine whether or not your books can or cannot be returned. In the ongoing debate some say that many booksellers will not stock books that are not returnable. Others say this is not so. Through the Book Sellers Return Program the cost of the returned books, plus postage, is covered through the premium you pay for participation in the program.
